Bringing the childrens` workforce together through integrated working
Posted on Thursday, January 29, 2009
The Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) has launched a campaign to encourage organisations, which work with and for children and young people, to work together with other sectors to improve outcomes.
The new integrated working campaign aims to ensure that children "only ever have to tell their story once". Integrated working is when everyone supporting children and young people work together effectively to put the child at the centre, to meet their needs and improve their lives.
The first information is now available, giving youth leaders and volunteers the chance to sign up for a monthly online newsletter providing key information about how to work in an integrated way. The information-packed e-bulletin will contain top tips for practitioners, as well as useful case studies and other resources to support integrated working.
Integrated working between those that work with children has never been more important, explains Deirdre Quill, Director of Workforce Reform and the Regions at CWDC.
She said: "Integrated working is for everyone in the children’s workforce. Whether you are a Brownie leader, sports coach, volunteer or music teacher - this campaign will help you to understand how your role contributes to making one children’s workforce a reality.
"This campaign will promote how by working together we can make an even greater difference to the lives of children and young people, keeping them safe and reaching their full potential."
It is hoped the six-month campaign will inspire and motivate the children and young people’s workforce to engage with the integrated working tools on offer. It will also highlight how each element fits within the bigger picture of integrated working, workforce reform and the wider Every Child Matters agenda. These elements are: the common core, information sharing, lead professional, common assessment framework, multi agency working and leadership and management.
