As part of the Community, Youth Workers and Not for Profit Sector, our members are either working or training to work with children, young people and communities in statutory or voluntary settings. JNC Pay Claim 2013
The JNC Pay Claim for 2013 has been formally submitted to the Employers and is asking for a substantial increase on all grades and allowances. The Employers Side have said that they hope to be able to formally respond at the next full JNC meeting on 22nd April.

JNC Agreement 2012
The JNC for Youth and Community Workers has now published its revised Agreement (Pink book), 2012 edition. The new edition revises the 2005 Report and amending circulars. It includes the full, current conditions of service for youth and community workers and covers issues such as maternity, sick leave and qualified youth worker status.The report is available to download in full here free of charge.
Valuing Youth Work
Further research has been published by the Local Government Association and the National Youth Agency. Valuing Youth Work contains case studies of local authority-funded projects in Birmingham, Devon, Hartlepool, Hounslow, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Rotherham and the Wirral. Each example shows how organisations and councils can work together to provide services covering health, citizenship, participation, and training and education, and the positive impacts such work has on young people.

Cuts to playwork services? Tell us...
Unite the Union has launched a new survey to look at how the current funding cuts to local authorities and voluntary sector organisations have been affecting playworkers, play provision and children.
The survey builds on one carried out in July 2011, which reported that 74% of employers were planning to make cuts, 76% of employers had put staff at risk of redundancy, and over 50% had moved staff away from frontline roles. Respondents reported that over 50,000 children would be adversely affected by the cuts, which affect out-of-school provision, holiday playschemes, adventure playgrounds and community play ranger programmes.
The current austerity measures are leading to the closure of well loved community play services across the country, most located in the most deprived communities.
